I’m really psyched about this new group I’m playing with and writing music for: it’s called the McCarron Brothers. Our new CD, “Way Down in Brooklyn”, is out and will be available on CD Baby within a week or so.
We’ll be having a CD Release Party at Nublu to celebrate on May 8th.
Meanwhile, you can click here to go to my website and download a free McCarron Brothers mp3. Once at the site, click the ‘downloads & mp3′ link to access the track. Let me know what you think!
The Making of The McCarron Brothers
…well, I suppose you could blame Mark McCarron for having the gumption to call a bunch of guys to get together just to play, with no gigs in sight…and you could blame us for showing up!
From there on, it was just a matter of whiling away the Brooklyn afternoons at Doug’s place. Truffles, Doug’s foundling pitbull, was always there to lend support and constructive barking, or just to sit on our feet or lick our hands as we rehearsed. We played some jazz standards, we polished our originals, and we threw in tunes by Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, and the Headhunters. And finally one day we figured we had enough songs together to make it to the big time. And here we are.
Though not related by blood, we’ve sweated and suffered together enough to be considered brothers…plus it seemed like a good name.
“These guys are like Headhunters-meets-Western Swing-meets-an atmospheric wall of sound” — Truffles
